Loretta believes that yoga is too beautiful to be practiced only in yoga studios.
Here a Vasisthasana, side plank, is practiced alongside a shiva statue at Wanderlust Festival.
Practiced outdoors in beautiful
Lake Tahoe this asana is a celebration of strength and stability.
Loretta travels nationally to work with her yoga mentors.
So far in 2011, she has studied with her great friend Kit Spahr, longtime beloved mentor Erich Schiffmann,
and completed an Embodyoga workshop at Kripalu. She founded the non-profit organization Yoga outreach Columbus
in late 2010 after being inspired at Wanderlust Festival. Loretta feels a shift occured during those days in July 2010.
These classes renewed her personal practice and teaching style.
This four day intensive included workshops with Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Baron Baptiste, Vinnie Marino, Duncan Wong,
Doug Swenson, Annie Carpenter, Schuyler Grant, Sianna Sherman, Diane Hudock, Janet Stone, Brock & Krista Cahill, Elena Brower and many musicians.
Loretta was first introduced to hatha yoga in the mid 1980s in Cleveland.
She studied faithfully with her instructor, Maria Sarrossey. (Maria trained with Indra Devi.)
A few years later when her family relocated to Columbus, Loretta continued her practice and participated in Kripalu yoga retreats.
In 2000, when Loretta was
introduced to a flowing yoga style of vinyasa yoga, she adopted yoga as a daily practice.
Shortly thereafter she became an instructor. Her first certifications were Yogafit levels
1 and 2. Loretta has deepened her own practice with workshops taught by Lino Miele,
Paul Grilley, Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Laurel Hodory, and Bryan Kest.
She has completed two different weeks
of intensive teacher training with Rodney Yee, in 2003 and 2004.
More recently she completed workshops with yoga masters, Erich Schiffmann and Ana Forrest,
two different Anusara Yoga immersions with Todd Norian, and is ever inspired by fellow teacher Kit Spahr.
Loretta continued to deepen her understanding of yoga and how to teach these skills in the Balanced Yoga 200 hour teacher training.
She is grateful to Donna Winters for this deeper understanding of communicating yoga's subtleties to others.
Loretta loves to teach yoga to beginners, kids, and pregnant women. She also enjoys teaching
with more experienced students. She teaches at a university, several health clubs,
wellness centers, as well as employee sites and home settings. Loretta is honored to teach this
ancient Indian system that is here in the western world for the benefit of all.
Feel free to ask Loretta about her long marriage and four kids.
