Updates are also on my facebook page. Link is on the home page. Shanti.
Sept 2010 The Wanderlust Festival was a great time of renewal for me. This vira, warrior two, is practiced on high camp of Squaw Valley in Lake Tahoe, California.
The setting was perfect for an intensive four day yoga immersion with many of my favorite teachers.
When the classes were over we danced the night away with artists such as Moby, DJ Drez, MC Yogi, and Pretty Lights.
So grateful to the team who organized this fab event.
March 2010 Referring to yoga's calming benefits, I am quoted in this cool article about
yoga on the Helium website.
"Professional yoga instructor Loretta Zedella likes to use the phrase, 'fluid body, calm mind.'
She explains that in some of her fast-paced classes, such as Vinyasa yoga, the focus remains
on staying mentally calm throughout a series of physically challenging poses. This same mental
technique may be facilitated in any challenging position, from a traffic jam to the dentist's chair."
Entire article can be read here: http://www.helium.com/items/1640762-benefits-of-yoga Let me know if you agree.
Does yoga effectively calm your nerves? Yoga does such a good job of calming my nerves that it is a motivating factor
in my regular daily praxctice. So happy to be teaching
a bit more now that the weather is cold and our options for activity have decreased. :)
November 5, 2009 I've been teaching prenatal yoga for five years at the Dublin
Community Recreation Center. What a joy this has been.
My quote about using breathing teachniques during labor is in this nice online
article: Drugs Don't Have To Be Part Of Birth.
Sept 2009
My third weekend with Erich Schiffmann in Yellow Springs was absolute joy. This time I drove to the workshop with two dear yoga friends.
It is so great to see so many happy people all in one place learning from a great teacher.
Love and gratitude to my big yogi mentor.

April 1, 2009 Aloha! A new season, a new logo and
some new updates. Mark and I just returned two weeks ago from Hawaii. We stayed at
two different places on the big Island of Hawaii that featured yoga.
I have so many pictures to upload that it is hard to decide which to post first! I'll
incorporate lots of new pictures with new testimonials during April. Since there is a new photo of me on the home page,
here is a cute gecko in a yoga mat at Dragonfly Ranch. The sprit of Aloha continues all spring long with classes I teach, just for fun!
I'll probably still jokingly be using my current fave phrase, "tell it who is boss." This refers to resistant parts of the
body; such as knees that want to turn inward in standing poses.
Feb 24, 2009
Last week the TV show Biggest Loser featured a segment about yoga.
I've never viewd this show, but, like many of us, know of its premise.
I think the segment does a pretty good job of showing a yoga class and how it can be a challenge for people, big or small.
Do you think the instructor does a good job?
Jan 28, 2009 Instead of focusing on the world's problems, give your attention and energy to trust, love, abundance, education, and peace.

May we be well, may we find peace in this life just as it is.
And may this new year unfold for us in unexpected and delightful ways.

Great words to remember
THE SYMPTOMS OF INNER PEACE
by Saskia Davis
Be on the lookout for symptoms of inner peace. The hearts of a great many
have already been exposed to inner peace and it is possible that people
everywhere could come down with it in epidemic proportions. This could pose
a serious threat to what has, up to now, been a fairly stable condition of
conflict in the world.
Some signs and symptoms of inner peace:
* A tendency to think and act spontaneously rather than
on fears based on past experiences.
* An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.
* A loss of interest in judging other people.
* A loss of interest in judging self.
* A loss of interest in interpreting the actions of others.
* A loss of interest in conflict.
* A loss of the ability to worry. (This is a very serious
symptom.)
* Frequent, overwhelming episodes of appreciation.
* Contented feelings of connectedness with others and nature.
* Frequent attacks of smiling.
* An increasing tendency to let things happen rather than make
them happen.
* An increased susceptibility to the love extended by others
as well as an uncontrollable urge to extend it.
WARNING:
If you have some or all of the above symptoms, please be advised that your condition
of inner peace may be so far advanced as to not be curable. If you are exposed
to anyone exhibiting any of these symptoms, remain exposed only at your own risk.

My weekend with Erich in Yellow Springs was absolute joy.
Its timing one week before Susan's wedding was a true gift. Will place some additional pics here soon. I really love this big guy. He is my favorite teacher of all time.
I lend his DVD to all my yoga 3 students at OWU and always learn so much more when I listen to him. His book is the best and am eager for a new book to be completed.
I know that may take some time so am as patent as he asks me to be. Love and gratitude to my big yogi mentor.

Aug 22, 2008 Hello Late summer!
I was so honored to hear David Swenson speak at Yoga on High two weeks ago. He is the guy on the cover of this book, authored by himself, that is considered by many THE textbook for ashtanga yoga.
David is a bright and funny man. His moving yoga demo was truly inspiring. I'd never seen mandalasana practiced so smoothly. He is an inspiration. I'm looking
forward to working with one of my favorite yoga inspirations, Erich Schiffmann, in two weeks.
The timing is impecable as my daughter gets married the following week.
NEW CLASSES This fall, a second evening for power yoga and a NEW teen yoga class at Dublin Community
Rec Center. I've been teaching each Monday at DCRC for several years now. Had been reluctant to add another evening, but shall give that a try.
Thank you for your requests for this. Practice once or twice weekly at Dublin Rec.
July 13, 2008 I attended my first official Laughter Yoga class yesterday. Info here: laughteryoga.org Meg Scott leads a fun half hour of breathing, movement and laughter.
What a fun and silly way to spend a Sunday morning in Sharon Woods Metropark. Those of you who've taken my class know that my yoga clases are always infused with laughter. Laughter really helps one empty stale air out of the lungs,
it is a stress buster, boosts the immune system, and it makes you feel GOOD! No wonder our classes always include a healthy dose of "the world's best medicine."
May 29, 2008 Welcome summer weather!
This is the gorgeous view of the ceiling inside
Peale chapel on Ohio Wesleyan campus. Summer classes are here in the sunny and bright chapel.
The yogis here are so motivating--not unlike any of my yoga work locations! You really inspire me. The energy is contagious. I've been motivated to make a big update on this website today.
Find five brand new pages of college student testimonials.
These students' issues run the gamut from football injuries to brain tumors, hip dysplesia, cerebral palsy, depression, asthma and more.
If you find these stories even half as inspiring as I do, they are sure to make your day.
Long live the benefits of this great yoga practice!
May 11, 2008 What a gorgeous time of year this is. I hope you are enjoying some time outdoors. My Ohio Wesleyan seniors graduated today.
I am once again teaching twice weekly at Kinsale Golf and country Club. Drop in on a Tuesday or Thursday at 1pm for a mid-day revitalizer. Thursdays in the chapel at Ohio Wesleyan at 11am is another new class that begins this week.
A favorite anonymous quote that I am sharing with yogis: May the longtime sun shine upon you, all love surround you, and the pure light within guide your way home.
March 17, 2008 Welcome spring weather! I was in San Diego on spring break last week so am very eager for sunshine. I'm so grateful to have
studied Iyengar Yoga with Cathy, a level 3 instructor, from Bamboo Yoga, Coronado. I'm looking forward to sharing my new yoga alignment insights with students.
My Balance weekend with
Mary Sinclair was so enlightening. Mary does such a great job of explaining balance yoga.
If you've taken class with me this week, you know the basic priciples of standing and
sitting that she teaches.
One can feel different at first, but can feel fantastic once the balance is itegrated.
Back discomfort can be erased with these priciples. Visit here for more info or a refresher of these priciples.

Jan 9, 2008 Three offerings since it's the time of year that resolutions get much press. Let's Integrate our resolutions to strengthen our integrity.
A resolution isn't what you "should" do; it's a chance to move your life forward.
Your limitations aren't flaws. They're opportunites for self acceptance.
Jan 6, 2008 Here we are in the most yin time of year.

that we share online.
Oct 21, 2007 Join me twice per week at Dublin Pilates.
Classes during the day on Wednesday at 10:30; and evening, Thursdays at 7:00. (Times subject to change.) Write for exact location.
Here is a special picture of hanumanasana for Ellen and all of us who love monkeys--or monkey poses!
Oct 21, 2007 Fall is here in all its splendor.
The mild weather motivates me to walk frequently as I did twice yesterday and today. I recently took a trip to sunny San Diego.
Here is a beach yoga picture of modified Natarajasana, or Lord of the Dance. A new San Dego zoo yoga pic coming soon to the homepage!
Sept 26, 2007 A quote to consider: "As smoking is to the lungs, resentent is to the heart."
Sept 1, 2007 I'm so happy to begin teaching
in Westerville once again. Not only will I be teaching where I have so many yoga friends,
but in a nice yoga studio with blocks, straps and blocks at The Yoga Factory.
Six week session begins Sept 12.
Try this link Yogi Tea
for a beautiful visual surprise. Enjoy the peaceful yoga tip complete with music. Sipping tea while viewing is optional. :)
I'm so honored to be asked to return to Verizon Wireless, VZW, by the employees. The gym had twice cancelled the classes due to budget cuts.
This time the employees pooled their resources for my return.
Upon my return this week, the VZW fitness club manager greeted me with, "We can't get rid of you."
We all know that means, "Welcome back, Loretta!"
Note: VZW yogis pictured in savasana below.
Aug 20, 2007 The year-long teacher training at Balanced Yoga has ended.
What an incredible period of growth this has been for all involved. I'll miss the other trainees and the time we spent together each month.
On the bright side, I have many new tools to use in upcoming classes. I'm confindent I'll complete the
necessary paperwork to obtain a new yoga teacher training certificate. ;)
Aug 20, 2007 This is the last week of the summer schedule. A very fond farewell to my Sterling
Commerce students. I've been teaching that class for five years! Amazing, isn't it?
Next week they begin with
Constance as their teacher. In addition my Kinsale afternoon classes end this week.
I do begin some new classes this and next week.
Tonight I begin a four week series at Pilates of Dublin. Email me for details.
The next Monday I begin to teach an 8:15 am class
Knit2temptations in the heart of Dublin.
July 2, 2007 Thank you so much to the wonderful yoga
students at Verizon Wireless. It has been fun to teach
you in your gym or a conference room once or twice weekly for the past several years.
I am so grateful for the photographs that you gave to me. I also apprecaite the other thoughtful gifts.
May your yoga practice continue to grow. Never forget how great yoga allows you to feel!
June 7, 2007 Summer is here and so is my new summer schedule. The OWU community class is in the gorgeous sunlit campus chapel.
I teach two classes weekly at Kinsale Golf and Country Club.
I plan to make time after this class now and again to enjoy that club's beautiful outdoor pool. What says "summer" more than swimming laps under the sun and relaxing
near the pool hearing kids laughing and splashing? (With the possible exception of eating watermelon?) I hope you make time for you favorite summer passtimes this season.
April 10, 2007 Doesn't it appear that the Buddha is tickling my belly? This was taken in the garden of Devi Yoga in Sedona.
Devi had just taught an invigorating 90 minute vinyasa class.
I'm so grateful for my long weekend in gorgeous Sedona, Arizona.
I am so thankful for my time away for rejuvination. The red rocks are glorious. The company, the hikes, the friends, the yoga, the gems, the fun--
it was all fabulous. May you each do something this month that rejuvinates your spirit!
April 10, 2007 Tonight was the preview night for the
very nice little
yoga studio inside LifeTime Fitness. It is a beautiful little private yoga studio inside a
big and nice club. The LifeStudio room has grand windows with great green velvet drapes.
It is just five minutes from my house, so very convenient for me and my neighbors.
Please drop in to say "Hi" if you are a member or planning to be a
member during their grand opening this month. Tomorrow I teach a class for the personal trainers in the afternoon then teach class at 6pm.
Mar 6, 2007 Greetings to prenatal yoga students. Click this link to see a clip of the the excellent DVD by
Shiva Rea. Her DVD is a true inspiration to each of my prenatal yoga classes.
Mar 3, 2007 I've admired Yogini Ana Forrest for a long time. Many of my students are familiar
with her audio CD as I may play it for us to experience about once per year. She is coming to Columbus thanks to BalancedYOGA. For ticket info click here.
I'll be working with her on Mar 20 and 21 when she is in Columbus.
A group of war veterans has turned to yoga, an ancient Hindu spiritual practice, to cope with the symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder.
For the full NPR story click here: War Veterans Seek Peace Through Yoga
Feb 20, 2007 I've posted a New Link on the links page.
Pranayama demonstration Click here to see a
very cool pranayama demonstration with a great explanation of prana. You'll love being able to see this person's
interior energy system. Wouldn't it be cool to view people's chakras like this? http://www.channelyoga.com has many nice yoga videos to peruse. Bookmark it now for when you have some time.
I can highly recommend the DVD The Secret. The formal description: "The Secret is about the power of thought, the law of attraction,
visualization and your inalienable, supernatural right to have,
do and be whatever your heart dreams of; it is pure enlightenment."
Much like yoga you have to see it to understand it--unless this concept is a review for you.
This is a great little way to spend some time reviewing your reasons to stay positive
and focused in your thoughts since you are and become what you think. Gratitude to yogi Michelle for the gift of this DVD.
January 2007. Earlier this month I taught a yoga class at
Life Yoga Studio in Virginia, Minnesota. I was happy to be reunited with dear yogini friend and yoga studio owner, Catherine.
We took the time to do some fun partner poses. Thank you to the yoga class attendees
who braved -20 degree weather to practice yoga that morning! Gratitude to Mark, a great and patient
yoga photographer as well. Many more photos like this one may be appearing on these pages in the coming months.
January 2007. Another very worthwhile and informative workshop with
Todd Norian last month. He is a very helpful, and encouraging Anusara Yogi. He had me, and many other workshop attendees
experiencing poses much deeper than we'd thought possible. Two poses that he asked me to demontrate for the group were full backbend,
and some push ups with our feet on a sliding blanket. He indeed helped me to progress much farther with both of these poses. I have a CD of pictures I took during the weekend. Perhaps I'll upload more of them.
November 2006. Recently I saw the amazing London based yoga troupe Tripsichore. What a joy it is to see people interpret the yoga asanas and make
something so creative and beautiful with them. See the troupe in action in a video Here
Sept 10, 2006 I love this time of year as the weather is
mild, long walks are comfortable, and long leisurely meals are enjoyed
al fresco. This fall I've decided to return
to yoga school. I'll take the year long yoga teacher training at Balanced Yoga in Clintonville. Donna Winters
teaches many of the sessions, although the intensives begin this month with Dianne Kadonaga.
In December Todd Norian
will host one of our sessions drawing upon his extensive anusara knowledge. Perhaps you'll use this
traditional "back to school" time to immerse yourself in something you love as well.
June 2006. Beginning June 1, I am teaching an 11:30 AM yoga
class on the OWU campus. It is open to OWU staff and anyone else who would like to
drop in. You can even pay
a drop in fee. Come when you can. Email me for the exact location.
Spring 2006 A little joke as we look forward consistent
warm weather! Mahatma Gandhi was a revered yogi, and chose to live rugged and
ascetic lifestyle. He often went barefoot and as a result, developed calloused feet. He ate a sparing vegetarian diet, including many beans, and developed bad breath. He also went on a number of fasts, which caused him to become somewhat weak.
He was a "Super-calloused fragile mystic with extra halitosis."
January, 2006 Here we are in the coldest months of the year. It is the most yin time of year.
You may feel like slowing down. Be aware if this is a depressing time of year for you.
Contemplative is good,
depressing, not so good. Take the time to feel how you feel in each season.
If you feel blue, try a new activity. Try a new type of yoga. You could always look into
those full spectrum lights if you live in an area that has many gray days.
Much of Ohio is like this. I find
myself looking forward to spring break and the Florida sunshine. Happy winter. Namaste
December 2005 Thanks to Todd Norian for a great immersion of Anusara Yoga.
Thanks to Donna Winters and Maria of Balanced Yoga who made three day workshop possible.
I learned some great alignment tips. I especially appreciated the therapeutic workshop. It is so
valuable to learn specific poses for bunions, pigeon toes, bursitis, and a host of other issues.
In September, 2005 I had my tranformational weekend with my yoga mentor, Erich Schiffmann.
If you take one of my classes, you may experience some differences in the way we explore yoga. Erich's website Movingintostillness.com is on the links page.
It contains some great info. Much of his book of the same title is on the website.
Thanks for coming to Outdoor yoga at
Highbanks Metropark!
Wed Sept 7, 9:30 AM. We'll do this again next spring. We meet
under the trees
behind the first set of restrooms in the Oak Cove Picnic area.
Enter the park then take the first left turn,
pass the first set of picnic tables, the street veers to the right.
Click for a map of Highbanks Metropark. Then click on "Highbanks."
Email me if you think you may join us.
We can really salute the sun rather than the ceiling! Bring a friend. If you don't have a
yoga mat, bring a large towel.
Feel free to offer a donation, but money is not to be exchanged in the park. Thanks to those who came on Aug 11 for outdoor yoga.
It was a fun and warm yoga practice.
Thanks for coming to Harmony House Wellness Center during Trial Class Week.
Loretta taught kids yoga,
family yoga and Hatha flow.
Email me or link to www.harmonyhousewellness.com for more Harmony house news.
I loved my first workshop with my longtime
yoga mentor, Erich Schiffmann. The weekend of Sept 9-11, I
attended a weekend workshop with Erich in Yellow Springs. I've been listening to his voice on his
video, Yoga: Mind and Body for over a decade. I still recommend this video. Ali MacGraw is student in the video.
Schiffmann also has a wonderful book that I refer to often, Moving Into Stillness.
I've added Erich's informative website to the links page.
Hello to the Worthington Kilbourne students who took a Loretta Yoga class during the Personal
Wellness class. You are each entitled to a free full length yoga class since my visit was brief.
Drop in Harmony House in Powell for a complimentary class.
Click on links to see where Harmony House is located in the heart of Powell.
Loretta led students at an Olentangy school through some yoga moves during May as well.
A yoga demo by Loretta was featured at the stress awareness day
on the campus of Ohio Wesleyen University on Thursday, April 21, 2005. The counselors planned this day to help students
cope with the upcoming stress of finals week. Yoga in the chapel was a nice way to explore yoga and
release some of the stressors of campus life.
Loretta taught a yoga class to the Court Reporters
Association on Sunday, April 10, 2005 at 8AM. I've never taught a class at 8AM on a Sunday, but this
was a large group of people who are very interested in yoga's benefits. We explored
how yoga can help prevent injuries associated with court reporting
such as carpal tunnel syndrome. We also explored ways that yoga keeps stress at bay.
Thanks for attending Spring Break - FREE YOGA CLASSES at Harmony House!
Harmony House offered free Yoga classes the week of March 28, 2005.
Loretta continues to teach a fun Saturday morning class here and now a Wednesday at 7PM class.
Feel free to drop in to either class. No commitment necessary.
Click on Links for directions to Harmony House.
I am happy to teach Ohio State university students beginning March 28, 2005.
These classes will be taught at It's Yoga in Grandview. Unfortunately this class means I bid farewell to
faithful students at Westerville Athlectic Club. I treasure the time we spent together.
Perhaps I will see you at one of the other yoga classes offered in Central Ohio.
Recent changes also prevent me from teaching at MT Wellness Clinic.
Thanks again for your generosity and I know I'll see you in the future.
It is great to be teaching this fall on OSU's campus.
It has been my honor to teach yoga to the college students at Ohio Wesleyen University.
If you are an OWU student,
do not hesitate to email me with any questions. I'll see you in the fall.
Please remember to be prompt for all classes. If you need to make up any classes, the 10:00 AM and afternoon,
1:10PM classes are in the OWU Rickey gymnasium.
The week of September 13 to 17 2004 was my second week long teacher training with Rodney Yee.
I hope that all of my current students enjoyed their subs during that week.
The Rodney classes were inspiring and challenging. Special thanks to Rodney for being so
attentive and giving the personal instruction that is so beneficial. It was inspiring to
be in a room every day for 8 hours with a yoga mentor and 40 other yoga instructors.
I practiced the hands-on alignment techniques with other instructors from all over the area. My classes will be infused with new tips,
techniques and flows for a while. I also
purchased Rodney's new book, Moving Toward Balance for additional inspiration. Special props go to four of my students who attended the Rodney Yee workshop on Friday evening.
Thanks to all of the students who attended the grand opening weekend at the new Harmony House in Powell.
Loretta taught a free class as did several other Harmony House staff members. It was a great chance to experience a full service wellness center, wasn't it? Pictured is the Harmony House staff.
Gratitude is sent to the students who could attend the approx 45 minute yoga class at MT Wellness Center on August 24. A media company
hired by the James Cancer Center
filmed a short segment about the healing benefits of yoga and massage.
Participants shared a short free yoga class.
Focus of the short film is the stress and immune
system link. We completed relaxation techniques and yoga postures. I'll let
you know how this film will be used in the future. (Perhaps that short documentary category at the Oscars...)
August 2004 Thanks to Mark for taking this silly photo.
Doesn't it look like American gothic is reacting to Loretta's feet?
Photo taken in the Columbus Short North District. Thanks, Mark.
April 2004 Loretta is waiting for permission from The Columbus Dispatch newspaper to see if she can
post the newspaper article "Yogi Isn't Just a Bear" about kids doing yoga. It was fun to
have some of Loretta's students pictured and have a fairly intelligent quote printed in the newspaper!
Hooray for the kids who were pictured in that article.
