"I feel that over the past month and a half I have had
a complex relationship with yoga. Since this is my first
time ever practicing yoga, I was extremely nervous because of
my hip dysplasia. I was not only nervous I might injury my
hip, but I was nervous because I lack some of the simplest
flexibility in my hip. I have slowly grown to enjoy yoga.
At some times I wanted to give up, because I feel discomfort
in my hips or some other region of my body. I enjoy yoga now
because I can actually see the benefits. When I started yoga
I couldn’t even attempt sitting with my legs crossed, or
Indian style as some may call it. Now I can sit in that
position and most days not even have a slightest discomfort.
I am really proud of myself for pushing myself out of my
comfort zone at the beginning of this process. I know I will
always treasure my yoga mat because I finally found something
that I can see helping with my hip dysplasia."

"Throughout my time in yoga I have found that I have become much more relaxed.
I am more in tune with all my muscles that I used to ignore (and stretched muscles I never
thought I had!)...
Since I play ultimate frisbee for Ohio Wesleyan, upward-facing dog helps me stretch
out my back and that in turn helps me stretch out for the disc while playing in games...
In conclusion, I loved yoga! To be honest, I went into class thinking I would meet
some cute girls...but what I ended up getting out of yoga was much more than that.
I found that it really helps me with reducing stress and slowing my brain processes down.
I've always been an energetic kid. Yoga really helped me to calm down and focus my excess
energy on my sore body parts. This could be an alternative to ADHD medicine as well.
By practicing yoga for one hour a day, I can really concentrate on my work more. I feel
as though I will be practicing more yoga in the future. It has helped me in a number of
different ways and I am much better with yoga than without it." Conor
"This class was the first time I have really tried
yoga and it was wonderful. There were many days when I would come to class just feeling
awful, either emotionally or physically and after really pushing myself, I would walk out
of class feeling completely refreshed and relaxed. I loved really challenging my body to
do as much as possible in order to get the most out of class. I am not one for intense
physical activity that requires running to get in shape and yoga turned out to be perfect.
It got me moving and sweating and increased my flexibility. Yoga allowed me to challenge
myself with out feeling like I was going to collapse during or afterwards. I plan on
continuing yoga this summer and hopefully for a long time afterwards. Thank you. " Wendy
"Overall, I really appreciate having the opportunity to take yoga. It makes me feel so
relaxed, especially when I have a lot of stress in my life. Between studying, my friends
here at school, not being at home with my family, and my health problems, yoga has been
helping me relax and appreciate who I am and where I am now. Yoga helps me take that hour
or two out of my day so I can just concentrate on myself, how I feel, and what my body
is telling me. Another reason that I like taking yoga is because ever since I have had my
brain tumor removed, I have been afraid to work to hard or too scared to show what I can
still do. I have become able to speak more publicly, especially about my brain tumor, but I was
even still afraid to play softball in high school. Yoga has given me my confidence back and
that I appreciate. Being able to relax and take time to myself is very important in living
a healthy life. I have become happier and much stronger in telling others how I really feel
since I have taken yoga. I plan on taking yoga so that it can make me physically and
emotionally healthier, and stronger." Stef
