"I credit Loretta for bringing me fully back to my practice. After moving to Westerville last year with all the stress a life change entails, I was not practicing fully when I needed it most. It took some time to find just the right teacher but after just one class with Loretta I knew I was home.
Loretta is so upbeat and supportive. Her style is challenging yet simple to follow and incorporate into the reality of everyday life. You will always come away from her class with peace in your heart and a smile on your soul. Lori Ann (mid 40’s)
Last December I came down with severe pelvic pain and saw several doctors in the span of three months, until I was
diagnosed with CPPS (Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome). Although this condition mainly affects women, there has been a large number of cases reported in men as well. However, the condition in men has not been under study much and no remedy available for men. Most men that come down with this condition live a difficult and painful life with no relief in site. Unfortunately I too was diagnosed with this condition in early February and started
making regular and frequent visits to Chiropractors and physical therapist, hoping to find an answer.
I concentrated on learning about this condition by myself and try to understand the symptoms better and didn't leave any stone unturned. After constant searches on the web and in libraries, I came up on a book under the title of "headache in the Pelvis" by Dr. Wise and Dr. Anderson. The book is based on a program study done at Stanford University, on diagnoses and treatment of "Tension Disorder Prostatitis" and "Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome". The further
I read this book, the more I realized the importance they place on relaxation and stretching techniques, so I naturally started to follow their recommendations (mind you at this point, I was so sick of all the anti-inflammatory drugs and different antibiotic prescriptions and in so much pain, I was willing to try anything to ease the pain). The relaxation and stretching techniques they recommend to follow in the book opened up a new door for me,
as I soon realized my pain was gradually becoming more tolerable.
I started to link these relaxation and stretching techniques to Yoga and thought I should find out more about Yoga, specially since Yoga is based on relaxation of mind and soul, proper breathing and stretching techniques. I had just finished my two month long physical therapy sessions prescribed by my family doctor as well and had seen some gradual improvements, but I was not ready to give up my fight for a complete cure, so early in March I found out that
Sterling was offering Yoga classes on site.
At first I didn't find the Yoga classes as an immediate answer to my condition, but I also realized I had to stay with it and concentrate harder on relaxing my mind and not to think so much of the pain.
In about two weeks I realized I was on my way to recovery and the mind relaxation techniques (also recommended in the HIP book), and the specific stretches concentrating on opening the hip area the pelvic region. On my follow up with my family doctor, I informed her of the new Yoga classes I had enrolled in and how much improvement I had noticed within the month of joining. My family doctor was quite impressed and amazed by my recovery and my progress and considered it a blessing as she was running out of conventional treatments prescribed for this condition.
It is now over 4 months since I signed up for Yoga classes and I am excited to report that I am 99% healed and recovered. I have been a member of a forum dealing with CPPS and I have wrote several reviews of my condition for other patients fighting the same condition and happy to report that a few other patients have turned to Yoga as an alternate medicine to this devastating condition. Thank you Loretta. Thank you for helping me out and getting me back to health.
